A Few Points of Interest: knitting, cheap rides, Harlan T. Bobo
A Few Points of Interest: knitting, cheap rides, Harlan T. Bobo
Happy Monday, everybody. I got back from skating with Memphis Roller Derby in Shreveport, La. last night. The bout was at the Municipal Auditorium (Elvis played there - they have a statue and everything) and was between two pick-up teams made up of MRD skaters. Thank you, Shreveport, for being so kind to us!
(That's me in the big black socks about to get run over by Robin N. Stealin's pain train.)
Here are a few things going on this week in Memphis:
- It's Social Club night at Five in One. They'll be teaching people how to knit. For $6, you get yarn, handmade needles, and knit and purl knowledge. I'll be there (with knitting needles) if you need any help.
- On the day after Thanksgiving, all trolley rides (downtown and out to Madison and Cleveland) will be 25 cents. Ride the loop at dusk and check out the holiday displays in a lot of the shops and restaurants downtown.
- Harlan T. Bobo is playing at the HiTone on Wednesday night, and you should be there. Your family probably isn't expecting you, and you probably don't have to work on Thursday. Harlan T. Bobo always puts on an amazing show (there are usually elaborate sets, stilts, and costumes). Tim Prudhomme is the opening act. $7 cover.
