Sweet Noshings in Overton Square is Open

When you walk in the store, you have several options. You can go for the candy jars, the gourmet popcorn, the pre-packaged candy and baked goods, the Ugly Mug coffee or the ice cream.

For the big candy jars, it’s a “scoop yourself” situation. There are colorful candies, chocolates, and savory trail mix type of things. The treats are priced by the pound, so get a different bag for each variety.

This is the “Wasabi Explosion” ($6.75 per pound). Those little green wedges are FIRE. =

For the popcorn, you can ask the staff for samples of the dozen-plus flavors and get a bag of each, or mix a few flavors together in one bag. I tried a few flavors. I liked the Green Apple and Cherry candided popcorn, but I was not so much a fan of the barbeque. I ended up with a mix of the Muddy Buddy Chocolate and the White Cheddar popcorn ($3.99 for the bag, prices vary depending on flavor).

The Muddy Buddy was extremely tasty. I liked it so much I put it on the 2013 I Love Memphis Holiday Gift Guide. In fact, I liked it so much that I ate half of it before I had a chance to photograph the bag for the gift guide, so that bag of popcorn is fuller in real life than it appears in that picture.

Sweet Noshings is open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8:30 p.m. They have a few chairs and a small bar that faces Madison, where you can sit to enjoy your coffee and the free wifi.

The store is ADA accessible from the parking garage side of the building. If you have any issues getting in, you can call the store at (731) 446-8499 and they’ll help you out.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
