What's Going on in Memphis for Halloween?

Experience the City’s Most Ghoulish Adventures

Haunted houses. Ghostly pubs. Chilling cemeteries. It should come as no surprise that a city with such a storied past as Memphis would highlight attractions with haunted histories and ghoulish reputations. In fact, Memphis was named one of The Most Hauntingly Beautiful Cities in the United States by Fodor's Travel. Many of the city's most haunted locations are open for discovery year round but can be especially spooky during the Halloween season. Along with these haunted attractions, there are plenty of spook-tacular events and activities you can experience this year. Check out these local Memphis haunts — if you dare.

Haunted Houses

One of the biggest and most popular haunted experiences in Memphis, HauntedWeb, is back. With five horrifying haunted house experiences and three escape rooms, HauntedWeb is the perfect Halloween attraction for those seeking a good scare.

From September 29 through Halloween night, experience the 10 Acres of Terror Haunted House and the Woods of Terror trails at FearZone Haunted House. Visitors also love the terrifyingly fun haunted house and corn maze at Shadowlands Festival of Fear at Jones Orchard

Or, get your tickets to one of Memphis’ most frightening attractions, the Wicked Ways Haunted House. See if you and your friends can make it out of Memphis’ largest indoor haunted house.

Year-Round Haunted Attractions

For spine-tingling adventures, venture into Elmwood — Memphis’s oldest active cemetery. Home of the city’s founders, mayors, history-makers and beloved residents, the cemetery is believed to be quite haunted. During the Halloween season, ghoulish events terrify residents and visitors alike. History comes to life during special tours and the Soul of the City on Oct. 13-14, 2023, when Elmwood's residents return to tell their stories.

On any given day, visit the Elmwood office to grab an audio CD and take your own 1-hour self-guided tour of the 80-acre site. Guided group tours are also available upon request.

When it comes to ghost tours, Backbeat Tours knows how to scare up a frightfully good time. Learn about some of Memphis’ most ghastly ghouls during the two-hour Memphis Ghost Tour. Visit the Voodoo Fields in South Memphis, Downtown’s Gayoso House and other harrowing haunts around the city.

To really get in touch with the other side, take a tour with experienced ghost hunters. You'll have a night out you won't ever forget as you learn the ghost stories and get a taste of paranormal investigating in the most famous haunted locations in Memphis.  Check out Historical Haunts to book your bus tour, pub crawl or ghost hunt.
