Spirits & Soul Fest Celebrates Tennessee Distilleries In April

Old Dominick Distillery and the Tennessee Whiskey Trail are getting together to throw a big ol' Tennessee spirits festival on April 26 - 27, 2019. I'm so happy that Memphis will host this event for the state, especially since it's our bicentennial year.

In fact, I think we can safely call Spirits & Soul Fest another way to celebrate 200 years of Memphis history.

Thirty distilleries from across Tennessee are heading to the South Main Historic Arts District in downtown Memphis for two days of rare spirits tastings, food, live music, and more.

You can do a one day pass for $75 (pick Friday or Saturday) but honestly I don't see why anyone wouldn't do a two day pass. The $100 two day pass gets you liquor samples on Friday night during Trolley Night, access to the rare bottles on sale from the distilleries, and access to Saturday's Distiller's Row Block Party, which includes cocktails from each distillery. Both Friday and Saturday night will have food trucks and live music.

Saturday's block party is outside, and is wristband access only. Friday night is a supplement to Trolley Night, so while anyone can walk through the usual shops and galleries' open houses, only wristband holders will receive the spirits samples and have access to buy the rare bottles.

Check out the maps for Friday and Saturday for more information.

Old Dominick will also host two additional events on Saturday. From noon t0 1:30 p.m., inside OD they're hosting a Trail Stories discussion. Tickets are limited to 100 guests. After that, there's a Basics of Cocktail Class with just 25 seats; those tickets are $80. Get your tickets here, while they last.

They will sell tickets on the day of the event for the Trolley Night and Distiller's Row Block Party, but the prices double. I guess the event organizers are not into the Memphis habit of waiting until the last minute to buy tickets for things, ha! In short, get your tix ahead of time.

If you're really into whiskey and other spirits from around the state, or you just want to support Tennessee, I think this will be worth the splurge. I know people wait in line and camp out for rare whiskeys, especially, and Friday night's rare bottle sales will be bottle only available at Spirits & Soul in Memphis. One time deals.

Saturday's block party is what's most exciting to me, since each distillery is scheduled to bring two or three different cocktails for you to choose from. We have some truly great and legendary distilleries in our state (love you especially Chattanooga Whiskey!) and I think it's extra special that Old Dominick has stepped up to host everyone during our city's 200th b-day. Especially since we're the only distillery in West Tennessee.

Here's all the distilleries who are coming:

The Spirits & Soul Fest has an information website with lots of info and maps, and you can check that out here.
