Memphis Chicken & Beer Festival Coming August 2018

We already have barbecue, hot wing, crawfish, and butcher board festivals in Memphis (to name a few). Now, prepare yourselves for the next new event: the Memphis Chicken & Beer Festival, benefitting the Dorothy Day House.

The Memphis Chicken & Beer Festival combines the city’s #2 and #3 favorite things (I think BBQ is #1, I’m not sure if chicken or beer comes next…)

Here’s are the details:

When: Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Where: Liberty Bowl Stadium

Who: 21+ only.

What: Beer, food, live music, and games.

How it works: This is not one of those “you have to know someone on a cooking team” events. Your $48.33* ticket gets you a) entry, b) a souvenir glass, c) all your beverage samples, d) includes donation to Dorothy Day House. You’ll have to buy your food separately.

*Online tickets are $40, plus an $8.33 taxes + fees charge. There is an option for a Designated Driver ticket, which is about $25.

The Memphis Chicken & Beer Festival has 13 mostly local restaurants signed up to sell food, presumably with a focus on chicken. You can see that list here.

Read more on the Memphis Flyer’s article about the event (thank you, Flyer!) and stay tuned for more details.

About the non-profit: Dorothy Day House is an important local non-profit that keeps families experiencing homelessness together. Usually, homeless shelters have to separate families by gender or age, but Dorothy Day is a safe haven to keep parents and kids together. Read more here.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

Do you need other vendors to set up? I am a Tupperware consultant =)

Charity or not, this is badly over priced. Think this will be a one and done.

  3. Christy Payne says:

I’m trying to figure out how I can set up a vendor table for AT&T at this event.

  4. Tamara says:

This was a really really hot event. I do not recommend it. It was not fun. Expensive and had to buy your own food.
