5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 1/11 - 1/13

Go Tigers Go! Happy Friday Memphis! Here are 5 things you can do in Memphis this weekend.

Like always, tag your photos on Instagram and Twitter #ilovememphis and they might appear on the blog.

1.Threepenny Theatre's MacBeth, Evergreen Theatre, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m., pay what you can (cash only), ages 13+

Memphis' newest Shakespeare company has a mission: to keep their performances accessible to everyone. That's why every one of their shows will be pay-what-you-can. Threepenny Theatre (or 3PT) is performing "the Scottish play" January 10 - 13 and 17 - 19. Judging by the positive reviews of 3PT's first show, "A Midsummer Night's Dream", their rendition of MacBeth's witchcraft, murder, and war will be worth seeing.

2. Fresh Beat Band, Orpheum Theatre, Saturday, 5 p.m., $29.50 and up, all ages

Kids are who fans of Nickelodeon's popular preschool show The Fresh Beat Band will be excited to see the group in person at the Orpheum on Saturday night.

3. Harlem Globtrotters, FedExForum, Saturday, 7 p.m., $23 and up, all ages

Bring the kids to the Harlem Globetrotter's annual visit to FedExForum. For their "Fans Rule" themed-tour, the audience votes on which rule they want added to the game. You can see your options here. I can't decide between 2 Ball Basketball (they play with two balls at once) or Make or Miss (teams get to add a player to the court when they score, lose a player when they miss). Go on Saturday and see the silliness and skill in action.

4. Elvis Birthday POPS, Cannon Center, Saturday, 7:30 p.m., $15 (students $5), all ages

The Memphis Symphony Orchestra celebrates 60 years of rock 'n' roll and Elvis' birthday (Jan. 8) with their yearly performance of Elvis tunes done the MSO way.

5. Bobby Bare, Jr. and Memphis Dawls, The Hi-Tone, Saturday, 9 p.m., $8, 12 and up

Go hear Memphis faves Bobby Bare, Jr. and the Memphis Dawls go "dawls to the wall!" and kick off your music year right.

The calendar has been updated, so check it out if you need more a ton more options.
