The Hampline is Coming

The Hampline is Coming

Overton Park has its trails and bike paths. The Shelby Farms Greenline is super popular with cyclists, runners, and walkers. The Broad Avenue area is hoppin'. It's only natural to link up these Memphis locations. Thus, the Hampline.

The Hampline is named after the Binghampton neighborhood where the two-mile stretch of protected cycle track will be built. People will be able to bike, walk, or run along the path and view plenty of public art, including more of our new favorite things in Memphis: murals.

According to the Hampline website, this will be the most innovative bike infrastructure in the U.S., so that's pretty fancy. Construction should begin in the next few months, and the whole thing should finished by Fall of 2014.

You can contribute to the Hampline fund here - you have until November 23 to donate. Also, if you're planning on going to the Broad Avenue Fall Art Walk tonight, note that the vendors on the street will be selling beer and wine to benefit the Hampline fund.
