I know, I know – it's hot out. But there's free music at Shelby Farms tonight, and you should go.

Summer Fun Concert, Shelby Farms, Memphis, Tenn.

East Memphis' giant park has picked up where the Levitt Shell concert series left off. Tonight (and for the next two Thursdays), Shelby Farms will have big, family friendly concerts featuring local bands.

Tonight, the Bluff City Backsliders are playing in front of the visitor's center (next to Patriot Lake) from 6 p.m. until sundown. There will be food available for purchase from local food trucks, adult beverages, face painting and an inflatable water slide.

Bring a little bit of cash though – Shelby Farms is asking for a $5 donation for parking (all of the money benefits the Shelby Farms Conservancy).

What: Summer Fun concert featuring the Bluff City Backsliders

Where: Shelby Farms Park visitor's center (500 North Pine Lake Drive)

When: July 19, 6 p.m. – sundown

How much: Free! (Though there's a suggested donation of $5 for parking)

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
