It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - in Memphis, it's Flyer day.

Our venerable local alt-weekly is deposited in wire racks and little green boxes all over the city on Wednesdays, packed with news, music listings and the most incomprehensible astrology readings.

This week, some of the Flyer's green boxes got makeovers. The Flyer gave 13 boxes to local artists for their first ever art box contest. They got back a set of brightly painted newsstands that are impossible to miss.

My favorite was Lauren Rae Holtermann's box, which has skeletons engaged in the acts of playing basketball, eating and being Elvis.
