Random Food Truck Party of the Week

Random Food Truck Party of the Week

Food Truck Fare, Court Square, Memphis, Tenn.

The first time I went to Austin, Texas, I fell in love with a food truck. Its name was Casa del Fuego, and it served one thing: tacos. Since then, I've been pretty sad that there aren't any food trucks in Memphis as a result of highly prohibitive city legislation.

At least, until now.

The Fuel Truck, Memphis, Tenn.

Today, hundreds of people stood in crazy long lines for burgers, Yolo, barbecue and crepes at the Food Truck Fare in Court Square to show their support for food truck culture in Memphis. It was a glimpse at what a food trailer park in Memphis would be like. And the truth is, it would be awesome.

This afternoon, the city council has their third and final reading of an ordinance that would loosen the restrictions on mobile eats. It's got the support of local restaurant owners as well as hundreds of you. Here's hoping it passes and that we can all feast on mobile tacos soon.

My friend and I went to the food truck fare and had a great time. I hope city council members vote in favor of having the food trucks, it would be awesome for Memphis.

We've spent a lot of time in Austin and fell in love with so many food trucks because of the variety of foods they offer. The selection is awesome. You're getting BBQ from BBQ fanatics, vegetarian food from a veggie fanatic, tacos, snow cones, etc, all from the people who have a passion for making that food for themselves. How cool to see it coming to Memphis!

Imoved here from Los Angeles 2years ago.Moble food venders are HUGE in LA. I was surprised that it took so long for Memphis to catch on. Then again you guys just "discovered" frozen yogert shops. Yeah! When to the food truck party, but was a little dissapointed. Why was there no booth set up to educate the people about what food trucks are all about. What are the rules that they have to follow. Maybe one of the hundreds of people there would have gotten inspired to start their own unique business. Teach the people or else we may have a hundred crappy Pronto Pup and Funnel Cake trucks ruling the streets. When, now I need a nap.

Jack- how funny, I myself am a recent transplant from Cali and thought it was hilarious when I saw of the 'coming soon' signs for frozen yogurt when we have had them for a few years. Maybe Memphis will catch up someday. (:
