I Have a Crush on a Painting
Last Friday night, I was at South of Beale for the pre-Social Camp mixer when I fell in love with a painting.
The painting is by Memphian Daniel Tacker, and it's one of the only paintings I've ever seen that I've immediately wanted to buy and hang in my home. Seriously - it would look great over my fireplace. The only problem is that it's $750, which is a little outside the range of affordability.
All of his paintings are amazingly colorful. Lots of them are graffiti inspired or city-themed. He's also a photographer and digital artist. I've looked through all of his galleries and I've developed a massive crush on Tacker's work.
When I asked about the painting, the nice people at South of Beale sent me a link to Tacker's Web site, which has a more complete collection of his work. It also has information about commissioned works and payment plans (helpful for those of us who want to support local art, but don't have a huge chunk of cash).
Who are your favorite local artists? Does anyone know Daniel Tacker? I'd love to meet him.
