Catch a movie at Overton Square’s Chimes Square

Enjoy the beautiful weather spring brings with the Overton Square Movie Series where every Thursday night a new featured film is played at the Chimes Square courtyard on Trimble Place.

Is there anything better than watching a movie outside on a cool night? Grab your blankets, chairs, and popcorn and sit back and relax at one of these upcoming free movie nights–perfect for the whole family.

The Overton Square Movie Series begins April 18 with Selena. The movies start every Thursday night at 6 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Outside alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

Here’s the schedule of movies coming up:

  • April 18 - Selena
  • April 25 - Mary Poppins
  • May 2 - Crazy Rich Asians
  • May 9 - Hope Floats
  • May 16 - Dream Girls
  • May 23 - The Little Mermaid
  • May 30 - Guardians of the Galaxy
  • June 6 - Moana
  • June 13 - Top Gun
  • June 20 - Sweet Home Alabama

Chimes Square is located on Trimble Place across from the parking garage. It shares a courtyard entrance to businesses like 17 Berkshire and The Art Project.

I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
