In Memphis, we know two things, culture and food so Black History Month, we're exploring the rich tapestry of African and Caribbean cuisines and their influence in our city. 

The Dorothy Day House is devoted to serving  families experiencing houselessness. Working with other local agencies, staff members, and volunteers, the Dorothy Day House provides families in need with a safe environment and the means to re-establish their independence. The nonprofit’s comprehensive services allow families to stay together. 

Bringing people together one cheese board at a time: Feast and Graze. 

Owned by Cristina McCarter, Feast and Graze is America’s first Black-woman-owned Charcuterie Shop & Cafe. McCarter first opened the shop in 2019 and has expanded to two locations in Memphis, catering services, and more.  In November of 2024, the second location opened in Poplar Plaza near the University of Memphis. 

For months, sneak peeks of Bao Toan Kitchen & Bar's chic interior have had Memphians eagerly anticipating its grand opening. Now, the wait is over.

Officially open at Crosstown Concourse—right in time for Lunar New Year—Bao Toan has transformed the former Wolf River Brisket space into a vibrant, immersive dining experience.
