Telisa Franklin and her team are hosting the Bluff City Christmas Experience featuring a Christmas parade and community activities on the inside of Hickory Ridge Mall at 6075 Winchester, Memphis, Tennessee 38115. Thousands are expected to attend the event.

The parade will start at 11 a.m., Dec. 4, on the southeast side of the mall and travel for over a mile around the mall. At the finale, participants will be encouraged to come into the mall to experience more activities: a Christmas exhibit, a carousel ride, live entertainment, shopping at local business, food and fun. Admission is free.

An estimated 50 groups will participate in the parade and over 30 local businesses have signed up.

The weekend will kick off Friday night, Dec. 3, with shopping and singing. Participants are encouraged to wear their ugliest sweater. Recording artist Courtney Little will perform while shoppers patronize local vendors.

On Sunday, Dec. 5, Bluff City will feature a Christmas Taste Test to benefit Porter-Leath Children’s Center. Area restaurants and caterers will provide participants a sampling of their favorite trimmings.

As is the custom, parade participants are asked to wait until 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, to place chairs along the parade route. Additional chairs will not be allowed to block handicap accessible ramps on the street corners or access to the sidewalk.

Shelby County Drug Court Judge Tim Dwyer is the grand marshal of the parade. He is known for giving non-violent adult offenders with drug-related criminal charges a second chance. The honorary grand marshal is Devante Hill, a local pastor and community activist.
