Power & Piety: Spanish Colonial Art includes 57 sumptuous paintings, sculptures, furniture, and silver objects produced in the Spanish Caribbean between 1680 and 1820. e works are drawn from the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection and exemplify the mastery attained by colonial artists as well as the rich diversity of themes, styles, and materials of Spanish Colonial art.

Edward Giobbi was born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1925, and grew up in a poor immigrant neighborhood during the Great Depression. After serving in World War II, he completed his art training in Boston, Provincetown, and nally in New York, at the Art Students League. This watercolor painting class taught is by professional botanical artist Sally Markell and is open to all levels. Markell has simplified the color blending process so that students achieve a rich depth that only the finest paints can produce. In the August session, participants will draw and render a Zinnia suitable for framing and a pumpkin in the September session. Participants may register for one or both series.
