Agricenter International, the education, agribusiness, research and agricultural hub of the Mid-South, announced its annual Feast on the Farm gala will return to the ShowPlace Arena on Saturday, August 7, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The ShowPlace Arena has undergone a major renovation over the last four years that includes a new HVAC system, new restrooms and concessions, as well as upgrades to seating and lighting.

The socially distanced event will feature area chefs and restaurants, live and silent auctions, and musical performances. It will benefit the Agricenter’s educational initiatives, which provide STEM education to more than 10,000 young people in the Memphis area each year and include programs to benefit other segments of the Ag sector, as well as the entire Memphis region.

“After a year of dealing with a lot of uncertainty, we are so excited to come together and celebrate in person,” said John R. Butler, President of Agricenter International. “Feast on the Farm honors the incredible work the non-profit accomplishes to educate Memphians of all ages and backgrounds, and highlights the journey of food from our farms to the table. Given the stresses the COVID-19 pandemic placed on food supply chains last year, that work takes on great new resonance.”

Culinary delights created by some of the city’s top restauranteurs and chefs, will be featured at the gala. In addition to the Agricenter’s work in school classrooms, proceeds raised from the meals and auctions will benefit such initiatives as the VETSA Program, connecting those returning to civilian life from military service with employment opportunities in the agricultural industry. Another is the Farm Safe program, co-developed with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which features videos and training modules educating farmers and ranchers on safe working environments.

Booking a VIP Table of 8 for $1,500 secures preferred event seating with wine at the table and valet parking. If the table is booked by June 15, gala attendees will receive $150 in Crop Cash credited toward either silent or live auction purchases at the event.
