For the Love of Luke: A Benefit for Memphis Musician Luke WhiteJuly 20, 3:00 pm-July 21, 12:00 am
Luke White needs our help! Luke, a fixture in the Memphis music scene for 20 years, has been a member of many Memphis bands including Snowglobe, the Pirates, Coach & Four, James & the Ultrasounds, and Sons of Mudboy, among others. Recently, Luke was diagnosed with a brain tumor that will require surgery. Luke, like many Memphis musicians, does not have adequate health insurance. To mitigate the costs of his treatment and post-surgery care, his friends are throwing a benefit show on July 20 at Railgarten. Doors open at 3 pm with a suggested donation of $20. $1 of all draft beer sales go to Luke’s medical expense fund. Bands will be playing all day, beginning with kid-friendly bands G3 and School of Rock! Other acts include Crystal Shrine, Sons of Mudboy, Amy Lavere and Will Sexton, Me & Leah, Outer Ring, Liz Brasher, the Subteens, Louder Than Bombs, and more! Stay tuned for details, but the benefit might end with the reunion of one of Memphis’ favorite bands.
Additionally there will be a silent auction, so come ready to bid on ticket packages, gift cards, collectors’ items, memorabilia, artwork, and a variety of products and services! All proceeds will go to Luke. Unable to attend? The auction will be online beginning Wednesday, July 17, for out-of-towners.
We’re counting on you, Memphis! See you Saturday, For the Love of Luke!
