Your Memphis Guide To Super Bowl 51

Your Memphis Guide To Super Bowl 51

Super Bowl 51 is on February 5, 2017. Whether you're going out or staying in on Super Bowl Sunday, here's your guide to the big game's food, drink, and festivities in Memphis.

The New England Patriots will play the Atlanta Falcons. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on FOX.

This is meant to be a continuously updated list. Feel free to add your Super Bowl ideas in the comments.

1. Where To Watch: places doing specials and parties.

B.B. King's will host a Big Game Viewing Party starting at 3:30 p.m. They'll have the game on a 100-foot projection screen and various TVs. It's free to enter and there will be food and drink specials.

Celtic Crossing will host a watch party. Starting at 5 p.m. on Championship Sunday, enjoy door prizes and raffles, guess the score boards, hot wings, homemade chili and discounted appetizers. $10 domestic beer buckets, $4 pints, $4 Fireball and $5 Jameson.

Flying Saucer Downtown will host a "Superb Owl Party" with $3.50 drink specials on game day, plus a buffet and special halftime trivia games.

2. What To Eat: where to get hot wings or order delivery

Super Bowl = Food = Hot Wings for many people. Here are some (but not all) of the best places in Memphis to get them, in no particular order. Below that is a short list of great places that deliver.

Places To Get Hot Wings
Central BBQ
Mr. P's

Corky's is introducing new hickory-smoked drummies on January 30. They'll be 75 cents per wing Friday Feb. 3 through Sunday Feb. 5 (10 min. order, regularly 99 cents).

Places That Deliver: plan ahead and call early. Individual restaurants may have geographic delivery restrictions. It might be worth calling places several days/week ahead of time to find out individual establishments' ordering and delivery policies due to high demand on 2/7.

- Bardog (downtown only)
- Camy's
- Ferraro's
- Garibali's
- Little Italy
- Jet's Pizza
- Mulan
- Strano Sicilian Kitchen (midtown only)

3. Other Places/Things That Might Be Helpful For Your Super Bowl Sunday Consumption Needs

- Don't forget Fresh Market, Whole Foods, and Kroger for prepared foods.
- You can order Bar-B-Q Shop in bulk. Call ahead at 901-272-1277 to pre-order.

Memphis Represent!

Lil Buck, an alumni of New Ballet Ensemble's midtown dance school, recently toured with Madonna and was featured in an Apple AirPods commercial. Keep an eye out for him during the second half of the Super Bowl; his next commercial is for the Lexus LC 500, which they're telling me is some kind of fancy car. He's the number one example of the Memphis Jookin dance style in the world right now.

How are you celebrating the Super Bowl? Again, if you have additions to the list, leave 'em in the comments! Go Sports!
