It's Time To Spruce Things Up: I Love Memphis Update On The Way

After six years, it's time to spruce things up around the I Love Memphis blog. You may have already seen the new I Love Memphis logo and graphics floating around, but here it is officially:

Last fall, I asked you, dear readers, to complete surveys and share your likes, dislikes, and ideas about I Love Memphis. A few dozen of you also signed up to be in several focus group discussions.

Because of all this (and your other comments and emails) I've learned a ton about I Love Memphis blog readers and social media followers. I learned that you love I Love Memphis and many of you visit the site hundreds of times each year and follow elsewhere online. I also heard that you appreciate my hands-on personal perspective on Memphis and trust my opinion (thank you, that made me blush).

I discovered that your favorite posts are about events, things to do, food, ways to give back, and of course "5 Things To Do This Weekend". On the improvement side of things, I learned that the logo and website design needed an update, that you wanted an easier way to browse stories you love (since there are more than 3,000 posts on this site!), and that you want a more robust, easier-to-use events calendar.

Now it's time to put what we learned to work. I've been working with my colleagues at the Memphis CVB and local company S2N to create the unique logo and new website.

In four to six weeks, we'll launch. I am beyond excited for you to see what we've been working on, since it's not a template - it's completely custom based on your feedback. The new site will have:

- A fresh look created by local designers
- An easier-to-use navigation system that will show you more and better information
- A greatly improved event calendar
- Ways to search for things to do, eat, and see around the city by geographic location
- More posts about your favorite things and easier ways to find them

Of course, we'll have a few surprises as well.

If you were one of the folks who took time out of their day to take the survey, spent an evening in a focus group, or have taken the time to leave a comment or an email: thank you from the bottom of my Memphis-loving heart.

I'm anticipating a very smooth transition to the new site, and I can't wait for you to see it. If you have any questions, as always, leave them in the comments or drop me a line

Just out of curiosity...who's doing the site? In the interest of supporting local talent. :)

Hi Grant! We are working with S2N to create the custom site (there's a link to their site in the post) which is located in downtown Memphis. We went through a rigorous RFP and selection process earlier this year that was open to all local firms! Definitely committed to supporting local talent.
