More Grinding and Unwinding at Tamp & Tap Downtown

More Grinding and Unwinding at Tamp & Tap Downtown

A few weeks back, I visited Tamp & Tap to look around and sample their coffee. I've been back a few times since then and tried the food, which is mostly salads and sandwiches and a couple of breakfast offerings.

I went with a friend for lunch, and we ordered two sandwiches. I chose the Maxwell, which had roasted veggies, manchego, and hummus. I sometimes hesitate to order veggie sandwiches for fear of a lack of flavor, but the Maxwell exceeded all expectations.

My friend thought the Imperial sandwich's house-cured salmon and lemon chipotle cream cheese were delicious, though the baguette was too hard. She gave up and ate the fillings like a salad, albeit a good salad. All of the other ingredients seemed super fresh and flavorful.

I've stopped in a several times, and a couple of those times the service has been slow. Other times, it's been timely and friendly. I have to say that the decor is cool and unlike anything else I've seen in town, and I've heard a few people comment on this when I've been there, so I know it's not just the design snob in me that appreciates it.

I'd also like to say congrats to Tamp & Tap's Chef Sam Miller for winning Gold in the "Most Creative" category at this past weekend's Battledish Dishcrawl competition. He made an insanely intricate "Autumn Napoleon" that was not only beautiful but pretty darn tasty.

Trivia is on Wednesdays, Pint Night is on Thursdays, and Kill the Keg parties will be on the last Friday of each month, coinciding with the South Main Trolley Tour. Morning happy hour is $1 off drinks from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., afternoon happy hour is $1 off all drinks from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Tamp & Tap is open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. or later if there's a crowd. You can park in garages nearby or metered spots if you can find them, and the building is ADA accessible. Kids with adventurous palates might like this spot during the day, and there are plenty of vegetarian menu items as well as some vegan baked treats at the counter.

Their coffee/espresso is pretty awesome, also. I had a caramel latte today and it was easily the best coffee I've gotten downtown.

Went here for Brunch this past weekend.  The live music was great! I was sitting in an area where I couldn't see the band but they were wonderful to listen to.  I attached my link from Tumblr where I posted pics of what I ordered!  The Imperial  , Pumpkin Waffles  & the Cannonball Express  .  Hands down, great coffee (and I love my coffee, not the watered down stuff)! No bitter aftertaste or need for additional flavors!
