There’s No Place Like The Pyramid For The Holidays

There’s No Place Like The Pyramid For The Holidays

It’s time to get in the holiday spirit! One way to do this, that you can only do in Memphis, is to experience the festivities at the Big Cypress Lodge and the Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid.

Here are four ways to enjoy the holidays at the Memphis pyramid:

1. Stay In A Cozy Cabin at Big Cypress Lodge

The Big Cypress Lodge hotel inside the Pyramid is a legit luxury hotel. Big fluffy beds, roaring fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs, and a cozy cabin feel all decorated for the holidays. If you need a staycation or if you’re in the mood to experience some serious hygge, go for Big Cypress Lodge.

Big Cypress Lodge even has themed rooms: Duck Cabin, Treehouse Room, and the Fly Fishing Lodge; plus, it’s a winter wonderland down in the Bass Pro Shop and you can survey the whole pyramid interior from most of the hotel rooms' indoor balconies.

2. Visit Santa at the Memphis Pyramid

Santa’s Wonderland holiday village pop-up is happening right now inside the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid, and you can take the family to see Santa. Reserve your time for photos (printed and digital) here— it’s all free!

Santa’s Workshop will be open through December 24. Reserve your time online up to seven days in advance; space is limited...I noticed a lot of the evenings were already full so get those RSVPs ASAP.

3. Shop For Everything And Everyone

You can get that last-minute shopping done during your Big Cypress Staycation, too, because you’ll be within steps of the multitude of riches at the Bass Pro Shops. Don’t be fooled by the name. This place has everything…clothes, shoes, gifts, camping supplies, stuff for kids, outdoor fun, food items, fudge, an entire section of hot sauce, ATVs, bows, and a host of completely random items. And, if you’re really getting fancy…boats! Someone buy me a boat for Christmas.

The Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

4. Nothing Says Christmas Like A Cypress Swamp

The Pyramid is decked out for the holidays. What says “Christmas” more than Winston the Bear in his Santa getup? What will get you in the spirit more than a 32-story Pyramid transformed into a winter wonderland? Will your heart grow three sizes if you see our city’s most famous architectural monument lit up for the Yuletide? Only one way to find out.

I love Memphis. I graduated from White Station High School and the University of Memphis in engineering. I have given lectures at the Pyramid. If I can swing it, I'll move back to Memphis. I write and lecture as Ernest Hemingway ( authorized)😗
