Try Thai Street Food At Soi Number 9's Food Truck

Ed. Note: Michael Butler's series on Memphis food trucks continues. Soi Number 9 has a permanent location on the UTHSC food hall at 920 Madison Ave and a mobile food truck. Find Soi Number 9's truck location on their Instagram.

I'm currently on a mission to find the city's best least-known food trucks, and the first stop lead me to Soi Number 9, which is a new food truck that serves Thai Food. This Saturday, the "truck" was parked at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital during lunch and I decided to run over and give it a try. It's hard to miss the big orange bus. Clever marketing, y'all. I will say this first: this was by far the cleanest truck I've ever seen. I even mentioned that to the owners. The inside was spotless. I was also informed the truck had only been operational for two weeks. Enough about the super clean orange bus. None of that matters of the food is no good, right?

I recruited help for this review and I'm glad I did! I ordered the Fried Khoa Mun Gai and my friend Aleks ordered the Khoa Soi Noodles. We shared an order of pot stickers along with two bottles of water. Total price was $24, which is pretty good pricing. My food was delicious. I've had fried chicken at literally hundreds of places, but this was some of the best I've been had. I'm a huge fan of a local spot that featured amazing gravy, and this was on par other that. Alex’s food was also great. The sauce they provided is not weak sauce at all - it's spicy! You've been warned. I also had a Thai tea which was tasty.

Aleks approves of his food from Soi Number 9.

You can find out where Soi is located by following them on Twitter or Instagram. Tell them Mike sent you. It probably won't get you any type of discount, but it's worth a shot. Go try them. Go There: Soi Number 9 Food Truck Follow on Twitter or Instagram for schedule and location

This food truck is awesome! Everything I've had has been sooooooo good. I wish they would open a restaurant in midtown.
