Here are ten safe ways to volunteer or give back in Memphis this month:

1. Catholic Charities of West Tennessee: Homeless Outreach Clothing Personal Shopper Volunteer: Wednesday August 5th from 8:00am to 10:00am (Repeats daily)

This volunteer role will help distribute clothing and hygiene items to our most vulnerable population. Due to COVID-19 risks, we cannot allow many individuals to come shop for themselves at this time.

Clients will provide sizing and needs information allowing this volunteer to put together a bag for them. Volunteers should wear their own face coverings. Check-in takes place outside each morning under the large white tent in the parking lot.

Spay Memphis needs help sorting aluminum cans donated to our clinic. The volunteer would separate aluminum from other materials such as trash, plastic, and steel. Sorting usually takes 1-2 hours and can be done any time Saturday-Monday or 9:00am-2:00pm on Tuesday-Friday.

The clinic is closed on Monday and if you come then, you can ensure that you do not come into contact with anyone. You will receive instructions beforehand and supplies will be left at the location. Registration is for 1 person to enforce social distancing but you are welcome to bring a friend. A current tetanus shot is required to volunteer for this activity.
