The Wine Lovers Guide To Memphis

The Wine Lovers Guide To Memphis

February 18 is National Drink Wine Day! While I’ll spare you any jokes about how some of us live every day like it’s National Drink Wine Day, I will share with you this handy guide to drinking wine in Memphis. Updated Feb. 2020.

Wine Stores Specials and Tastings Obviously, these are not all the wine discounts in town and not all the liquor stores. If I missed a really good one, leave me a comment and I’ll add it.

- Buster’s Liquors and Wines offers periodic in-store tastings. Follow them on Twitter or Facebook to find out when.

- Doc's Wines and Liquors offers tastings all the time. Follow them on FB or Instagram for more info.

- Gaslight Liquor Shoppe has a “Ladies Day” every Monday with 10 percent off select wines for lady shoppers. Keep up on FB. - Joe’s Wines and Liquors not only has wines on tap at their growler station, but they offer regular tastings. Check out the calendar here - Kirby Wines & Liquors has weekly specials and periodic tastings, which you can learn about by signing up for their email newsletter here

Science-of-Wine-Bottles all the wine

Many of our fine dining restaurants have fantastic wine lists, regular wine dinners, or offer wine pairings all the time. I’m not going to give you a huge list, but if you have a favorite, leave it in the comments! And restaurants: if you have an upcoming wine dinner, add it to the calendar. Memphis lovers are a thirsty bunch. -- Did I leave something off? Share your additions in the comments. Drink responsibly, please. With Uber and Lyft so easy to use (and cab numbers easy to remember - 577-7777) there's really no excuse for driving if you've been imbibing. Cheers!

Kirby Wines and Liquor gives a discount on wine every Tuesday. I believe it's 10%. They also have a frequent shopper card where you can earn points.

My favorite event has been discontinued, but Zoommelier was fantastic! Imagine Zoo Brew with fewer attendees. Those who went weren't looking to get inebriated as much as they were looking to discover new wines. Would love the movement to bring it back!
