Drink Up And Give Back at Mix-Odyssey 2020

Ed. Note: Wesley is here to tell us all about one of the best cocktail parties of the year—Mix-Odyssey 2020! It's on March 6 at the Botanic Garden and you can get your tickets here before it sells out.

“Mixology” is kind of like having a chemistry set, except all the regular science stuff has been replaced with aged liquors, bitters, handmade syrups, and fruit zests. It’s like bartending, except more flavor experimentation and less hard labor and customer service woes.

Lucky for us, Memphis is full of talented mixologists, and better yet, full of ways to give back to the community. If you’re into either of those things, join Volunteer Odyssey on March 6 for their annual Mix-Odyssey cocktail tasting party.

Mix-Odyssey is a cocktail-making contest where you can taste them all and vote for your favorites, all while you snack on appetizers with Memphis Grizzlies DJ Justin Baker spinning.

The party is in Hardin Hall at the Memphis Botanic Garden from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and regular tickets are $75, but if you really want to party, you can throw down $100 for a VIP ticket or $250 for the Judges’ Experience—both of which include some seriously luxurious benefits.

Alcohol not your thing? Don’t worry—Alcohol-Free tickets are available for those who just want to eat and chill. You still have to be 21+ though.

You need to get your tickets now before this event sells out.

Here’s what you get with your ticket:

  • Event passport
  • 7 Cocktail samples from 7 mixologists
  • One token to vote for your favorite mixologist
  • Gourmet hors d'oeuvres

And should you choose to spring for VIP or Judges’ Choice, you’ll get ten cocktails.

Here’s a list of who’s competing this year for Judge’s Pick favorites and People’s Choice awards:

Nick Lumpkin from 3rd and Court Diner

Gracie Gennings from Hog & Hominy

Mitchell Marable from P.O. Press

Morgan McKinney from Bari Ristorante e Enoteca

Eric Martin from Art Bar at Crosstown Concourse

Daniel Quinlan from Ecco on Overton Park

McKenzie Nelson from Lucky Cat

We’re actually doing a ticket giveaway on Instagram that you can enter here. (Giveaway ended)

Proceeds from the event benefit Volunteer Odyssey: the folks behind our monthly “10 Ways To Love Memphis This Month” posts.
