It’s time for another awesome weekend in Memphis! Here are the five things you won’t want to miss, plus more ideas for things to do in Memphis this weekend.

1. Valentine’s Day For Grown Folks, Various Locations, prices and ages vary
If you’re skipping the sit-down dinner this year (or looking for something to do after) check out live music/drag shows/parties with (mostly) affordable covers:

Dixie Dicks, Miss Goldie Dee, Broke Hearted Boys at Doghouzz (Fri., 8 p.m., 21+)
Love is a DRAG show at Dru’s Place (Fri., 8 p.m., $10, 21+)
Valentine’s with Strangelove with Depeche Mode/Smiths/Morrissey/Bowie Tributes (Fri. 8 p.m., $15, all ages)
Marcella & Her Lovers, Louise Page, Mama Honey at Black Lodge (Fri., 9 p.m., $10, usually 18+)
Thelma & the Sleaze at Bar DKDC (Fri., 10:30 p.m., usually $10, 21+)
  Valentine’s Day 2020 Celebration at Wild Bill’s (Fri. and Sat., 7 p.m. – 3 a.m., cover is probably $15-$25, 21+)

2. Valentine’s Day Special Skate, Mid-South Ice House, Friday, 7:15 p.m. – 10 p.m., $25 per couple, all ages
The Mid-South Ice House in Olive Branch turns their usual Friday night “Cosmic Skate” into a V-Day themed evening this week with a special $25 package deal for 2 admissions, 2 skate rentals, and 2 hot chocolates for $25. Not into the couple thing? The Ice House hosts public skating hours every week, including kid-friendly afternoon sessions on Saturdays and Sundays.

3. Jazzy Family Day, Dixon Gallery & Gardens, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., free, all ages/kid-friendly
The Dixon hosts a free-for-everyone family day at the Gallery on Saturday inspired by Harlem Renaissance artists. They’ll fill the museum with art activities, music, snacks, and special guest.

4. Works of Heart, Memphis College of Art, Saturday, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m., $75 GA/$200 VIP, 21 and up
Bid on one-of-a-kind heart-themed artwork at the Memphis Child Advocacy Center’s 28th annual Works of Heart art show and silent auction. Work from more than 100 regional artists will be featured at the event. General admission is $75 and includes complimentary beer, wine, and appetizers. Big Heart Lounge VIP tickets are $200 and include a full bar, hors d’oeuvres, and gift bag.

5. TEP Mardi Gras Party, Pipkin Building, Sunday, 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., $30 for 21+ / $15 for under 21
The Tennessee Equality Project’s annual Mardi Gras party features a gumbo-cooking competition, live music, drinks, and more. Your 21+ ticket includes gumbo tasting (vote on your favorite!) and a beer voucher. There’s also a cash bar. The event benefits the work of TEP supporting equal right for LGBTQ people in our state. Beers for Beasts, Memphis Made, Saturday, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m., $5 suggested donation, all ages
Memphis Made brewery hosts a fundraiser for Australian Wildlife charities in the wake of devastating bushfires in the country. Expect live music from Jeff Hulett, Switchblade Kid, and more, plus Goner Records’ DJ Zac Ives. In addition to your donation at the door, a portion of every pint sold will go to benefit animal charities.

Rec Room Rumble, Rec Room, Saturday, 8 p.m. – 11 p.m, $5 cover, 21 and up
The Memphis Armored Fight Club is back at the Rec Room for another real, live, actual fighting competition with real steel armor and weapons. You have to see it to believe it. Rec Room is 21+ after 6 p.m. on weekends.
