16 Memphis Pies For National Pie Day
16 Memphis Pies For National Pie Day
Updated January 2020
National Pie Day comes but..twice a year? National Pie Day (the food) is January 23 by some accounts, but most people have decided to co-opt the mathematical holiday of National Pi Day on March 14th (which is supposed to celebrate Pi the number, 3.14) and make that day in March all about stuffing our faces with sweet pastries.
Who cares? Eat pie when you want. Find the best pie in town.
Lord knows Memphis and the Mid-south have a ton of delicious pie places and bakeries where you can enjoy flaky, sweet, satisfying ultimate dessert comfort food: pie.
To celebrate, here is a post filled some of the best places to get pie in Memphis, in no particular order. Think of it as a family photo album places to get pie in the Mid-South. There are probably a few more I could add to this list, too. Let me know your favorites in the comments!
1. Shady Wake Pecan Pie from Muddy's
Muddy's is a Memphis institution for a reason, and their Shady Wake pie is a special take on the classic Southern pecan pie. Read more about Muddy's Bake Shop here.

Not to play favorites, but this might be my favorite pie in town. Hands down, the best. Whipped peanut butter and banana pudding, plus heaven in a slice. I eat this every year for my birthday. Read more about Hog and Hominy here. (Ed. Note: Hog & Hominy is closed due to a fire, but we're holding their spot on this list in hopes they'll come back in a year or two, extra strong with a menu full of pie.)
