Fried Catfish and Southern Veggies at Soul Fish Cafe
Fried Catfish and Southern Veggies at Soul Fish Cafe
Soul Fish Cafe serves up dependable, affordable Southern comfort food in a casual cafe atmosphere. The original location in Cooper Young—opened in 2006—proved so popular that there are now six locations.
There are four spots in the Mid-South, including Germantown, East Memphis, and Wolfchase, plus two out-of-state in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Oxford, Mississippi.
They’re best known for their fried catfish and Southern-style “vegetables” like greens, green beans, mac ’n’ cheese, and the underrated cabbage. They serve seafood and chicken po-boys and tacos, too. If you’re not into the fried stuff, you can get most options grilled or blackened, which is convenient.
The tacos are full of strips of seasoned fried catfish, lettuce, and pico de gallo on soft tortillas folded up, they came with small helpings of guacamole and salsa.

Soul Fish is a please-everybody kind of place, good for kids and families. Most locations have patios for outdoor dining, too. Even though Soul Fish can get packed, the service is fast and efficient.
