OK, here’s your weekend guide:

1. Memphis The Musical, Playhouse on the Square, Thursday – Sunday, $42 and up (discounts for seniors/students/military/first responders), use parental discretion
Set in the 1950s, Memphis is very loosely based on the story of the eccentric DJ Dewey Phillips  and the birth of rock ’n’ roll. Shows are Friday night at 8 p.m., Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. The show is at Playhouse through February 8.

2. Wurst Beer Pairings, The Doghouzz, Friday, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m., $20, 21 and up
The new hot dog place, Doghouzz, and Wiseacre are teaming up for the wurst pairings imaginable! For your ticket, you’ll receive four hot dog samples and dessert, each paired with a different Wiseacre beer. DJ Record Player will be spinning. Doghouzz is at 1349 Autumn Ave., near the Concourse building but not inside it.

3. Chocolate Fantasy, Agricenter International, Saturday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., $20 at the door, all ages
Sample the city’s best chocolate desserts, including candy, baked goods, ice cream, pastries, and more. They’ll have music, entertainment, and a live auction as well. Benefits the National Kidney Foundation.

4. Chinese New Year Performance, Rose Theater at U of M, Saturday, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., $20 – $30, all ages/kid-friendly
Celebrate the Year of the Rat at the 18th annual Chinese New Year Celebration, presented by the Greater Memphis United Chinese Association. Expect performances of the Lion Dance, martial arts demos, a Chinese choir, a QiPao fashion show, and a special concert from touring Chinese musicians.

5. Take Your Dog To Bingo, Loflin Yard, Sunday, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., free to play, all ages/kid- and dog-friendly
Cerrito Bingo hosts a Sunday Funday Bingo game on the last Sunday of the month, and this month is a special edition – bring your dog to bingo! Hollywood Feed will be on hand with prizes and treats, and you get an extra bingo card if you bring a doggie. Loflin Yard will serve up drinks and food as always. Check out the rest of the Cerrito Bingo and Trivia schedule here.

This is my first time looking at this website, the information is great. The only problem I see that wasn’t mention was the parking space. Is that possible because I would need to know because l’m a disabled veteran.

    • Holly Whitfield says:

Hi Johnny! I’m glad you’ve found our website. There are a few dozen events posted here so it would depend on which event you were interested in and where it’s held. I’ve included links for more information for each event so you could click on those and contact the venues. I would also be happy to do that for you, if you let me know which one you’re interested in. The best way to reach me quickly is on Twitter at @ilovememphis. I know this posts’ events are over, but it looks like Playhouse on the Square (#1), Agricenter (#3), Rose Theater (#4) all have designated disabled parking, but Doghouzz (#2) and Loflin (#5) are street parking and might be tricky, so I would call ahead for those. Hope I can help you in the future!
