365 Things to Do in Memphis #3: Have A Cup of Coffee

As far as small treats go, there are few things more lovely (and tasty) than a cup of Memphis coffee. You can stop by any of our many local coffee shops.

Or, you can try some locally roasted coffee from the grocery store and other shops - look for J. Brooks, Ugly Mug, Dr. Bean,  Edge Alley and French Truck in Crosstown roast, serve, and sell their own coffee in-house.

Let me also recommend the Cafe Eclectic's Cappuccino Viennese.

Cappuccino Viennese from Cafe Eclectic

It's a bone-dry cappuccino topped with whipped cream. The sweetness of the whipped cream counters the dryness of the coffee, making it a great drink for those of you who aren't so into black coffee. For hardcore coffee fiends, the whipped cream doesn't hide the coffee taste too much.

Personally, I like to push the whipped cream down into the coffee with a spoon (without stirring it up). That way, you get just a little bit with every sip.

Check out the other coffee shops on this list.

I also highly recommend their Mayan Cappuccino that boasts both cayenne and cocoa.  It's delicious and packs a zing.
