7 More Places To Eat Breakfast In Memphis

Ed. Note: Looking for breakfast in Memphis? Stacey has this rundown of places to eat breakfast in Memphis. There's even a map to help you find your breakfast destiny.

It used to be slim pickings for a good breakfast in Memphis, especially if you were short on time or averse to standing in line. Now our cup runneth over thanks in part to these most excellent options.

Here's the list - in no particular order.

The Liquor Store, Broad Avenue’s latest addition, is a diner with a Latin flair and a full bar. They serve all of the breakfast classics all day, seven days a week. In addition to eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, and pancakes, they have vegetarian meats, homemade biscuits with shittake mushroom gravy, and a sweet potato hash that’ll actually make you feel like you started the day off making a healthy choice.

The Liquor Store has hot coffee, a full bar, homemade pie and even lunch and dinner items available at breakfast. Check their Instagram for weekend brunch specials. Read more here.

City Silo (formerly known as the Cosmic Coconut) in the Sanderlin Center is another breakfast-all-day place, though note that they are closed on Sundays. The best thing about City Silo, is that everything is fresh and healthy.

All dishes start vegetarian, but can have your choice of cheese, egg, or chicken added. The best breakfast seller is the McSilo, which is a toasted English muffin with marinated tempeh, egg and cheese. There are also a host of smoothie bowls, Greek yogurt bowls, and toasts.

There are also so many liquids to choose from. Their smoothies, juices, super shots, coffees, wellness lattes and kombucha cocktails are all a great way to start the day.

Now with two locations (South Main and Cooper-Young), it’s twice as easy to get breakfast at Bluff City. The star of the menu is the warm breakfast sandwiches with your choice of meats and cheeses and breads. A plain bagel with egg, bacon and cheese becomes extraordinary in their hands. Their espresso based drinks are also good for a jolt, and available with almond or coconut milk if you prefer.

Never fear, those with a sweet tooth can have their choice of housemade pastries, including a Nutella “Pop Tart,” cookies and muffins. They also have smoothies. Best of all? The Cooper Young location opens at 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The Medical District has a funky new addition thanks to the owners of Sweet Grass and Central BBQ--The Sunrise Cafe. The name is no joke. Early risers (or really late night partiers) can actually see the sun rise over their breakfast since they start serving at 6 a.m. every day. (They stop serving at 3 p.m.)

Biscuit sandwiches are king here and three varieties (sausage, chicken, and bacon, egg & cheese) are wrapped and ready for you to grab on the go. There are a few fun items like the Three Amigos Taco, the Korean inspired Bi Bim Breakfast, and the hearty Chef’s Breakfast bowl. Healthy eaters may want to give the King’s Breakfast a try: it’s oatmeal, maple syrup, peanut butter, sliced bananas and coconut bacon.

There’s J. Brooks coffee available hot, cold, and even on tap. And, true story, they serve one heck of a Beermosa (Miller High Life and OJ).

Edge Alley, next door to High Cotton Brewery in the Edge District, has evolved into a full service restaurant/bar, but it is still a breakfast seeker’s dream. Homemade biscuits, fresh eggs, and thick cut bacon are all elevated and available with amazing coffee offerings like carbonated cold brew. (There are also coffee cocktails for those who like to start their day off with a kick.)

The menu also features avocado toast, shrimp and grits, and fruit bowls. Open every day except Monday, they do it up extra special on Sundays with fried chicken biscuits and Fanta-mosas.

A food hall is not unlike a food court, only it’s free standing rather than in a mall. Puck Food Hall is steadily getting its groove on, especially in the breakfast department. You can pop in and get a coffee from Doctor Bean's or a breakfast sandwich from City Block Salumeria.

(Ed. Note: Holly here - I'm going to jump in and talk about a few more.)

Rise is a mostly breakfast cafe at Saddle Creek in Germantown with about 15 locations in the southeast, and this location is the first in Tennessee.  They have donuts, biscuit sandwiches, and a few other lunch-y things.  Menu.

It's "averse" to standing in line. English is my job.
