365 Things to Do in Memphis #277: Get Chocolate from Dinstuhl's

Assignment #277 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to get excellent, locally-made chocolate from Dinstuhl's, Memphis' oldest confectionery. The family-operated company was founded in 1902.

Dinstuhl's Chocolate, Memphis, Tenn.

If you can imagine it in chocolate, Dinstuhl’s can probably make it happen. They’ve made chocolate boxes for engagement rings, giant bars of white and dark chocolate for weddings and custom shapes for businesses. For those with dietary restrictions, the kitchen is certified Kosher, and there’s a special area where the staff makes dairy-free chocolate.

At all four Dinstuhl's stores, you can pick up boxes of assorted chocolates, chocolate bars in festive shapes, jelly beans, chocolate-dipped gummy fruits and seasonally appropriate gift boxes. I recommend looking in the glass cases and picking out truffles and pieces of chocolate individually (the east Memphis store has two giant cases that are stuffed with various pieces of chocolate).

We went during the holiday open house. The cashew crunch and peanut brittle are great. Perfect place to get something different for the holidays.
