You Can Help Bring the IRONMAN Triathlon To Memphis
Memphis is trying to recruit another major athletic event for 2020: a new IRONMAN Triathlon. If we are the chosen city, all the triathletes and their families and everyone working on the event will come here and stay in our lodgings and eat our foods and support our local biz and learn about our city. Win-win.
You can help make this happen!
On Monday, May 13, the Memphis Tourism & Sports Council will host a pep rally for the city selection process at Shelby Farms from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. The IRONMAN organizers will be visiting and broadcasting this gathering on Facebook Live.
We hope that groups – running, cycling, swimming, workout, fitness, triatheltes, hoopers, yogis, everybody – and Memphis fans in general to meet up at the Visitor Center at 4:30 p.m. before the video goes live at 5 p.m. to show our enthusiasm. Find more info (and RSVP) on the Facebook event here.
Y’all know how this works. If Memphis looks great, it seems like the city is supportive of hosting this event, and there’s a bunch of positive buzz from the Facebook video, our chances are better. We’re up against Des Moines, Fayetteville, and Tulsa.
If you cannot make it out to Shelby Farms, you can still contribute in a very important way:
