Mother’s Day 2019 is Sunday, May 12. Here is a list of things to do with mom this weekend, and then a list of places to have brunch. Don’t forget to check out this weekend’s guide, too.

The Dixon Gallery & Gardens

Things To Do For Mother’s Day In Memphis

Elmwood Cemetery is beautiful and peaceful and historic, and they’re offering a short-and-sweet tour for Mother’s Day with snacks on Saturday, May 11th starting at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $40 and they always sell out.

Baby Day at the Memphis Zoo. Keepers will offer specialized chats with a few of the babies at the Zoo on Saturday. It’s no extra fee, just the regular cost of the ticket.

The Dixon hosts Symphony In The Gardens featuring the Memphis Symphony playing Big Band music on the 12th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bring your picnics, chairs, etc. or buy Memphis Dawgs and MEMPops on site. Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for kids, and free for kids 6 and under.

The Redbirds are hosting a special Mother’s Day pregame brunch on Sunday at the ballpark with a hearty brunch buffet and bottomless mimosas ($36 dugout/$40 club level, that includes your ticket to the 2:05 p.m. game.

Head to Court Square downtown on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. for Sunset Jazz on the Square. This is a monthly free event, with limited seating (bring blankets, etc, if you like) plus food trucks; this month’s Sunset Jazz features the sultry sounds of Joe Restivo.

This is more of “future event” idea a.k.a. a gift idea. If mom loves the theater or musicals, get them tickets to an upcoming show at one of our city’s wonderful theaters. The Orpheum hosts Earth, Wind, and Fire on May 14, Anastacia (the musical) from June 4 to 9, and Leslie Odom, Jr. on June 28. Playhouse on the Square is hosting Cabaret through May 26th and Kinky Boots in August. Theatre Memphis hosts Hairspray June 7-30.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
