Elwood’s Shells Opens In Cooper Young On February 4

Our beloved Elwood’s Shack is finally opening their spinoff restaurant in Cooper Young on Monday at 7 a.m.

Elwood’s Shells is located at 916 S. Cooper (in the former Jasmine spot).

Elwood’s Shells will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. ’til 9 p.m., and on Sundays from 8 a.m. ’til 3 p.m.

Their menu features po’boys, sandwiches (including a lobster roll), soups, pastas, cooked oysters, and a couple of vegan options, pus Cajun and Creole dishes like crawfish étouffée, jambalaya, two different gumbos, and a muffuletta.

They’ll also have breakfast! See more of the menu here. They have a few food pictures on their Facebook page and website.

It might be packed for a minute, so maybe give them a few weeks to get going. Or, cut them some extra slack if you do go. (That’s my policy for all new restaurants.)

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

If the coffee is right, I’ll be munching on Elwood’s shrimp and grits that morning.
