60th Annual Liberty Bowl Guide: Things To Do In Memphis

Are you a Mizzou or Oklahoma State fan traveling to Memphis for the 60th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl? This post has you covered for info about the game, consider it a cheat sheet for making the most of your long weekend in our fair city.
The 60th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl game between Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Mizzou Tigers is on Monday, December 30 at 2:45 p.m. CST at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis.

There is parking near the stadium, you can use ride-sharing apps like Uber or Lyft, or call a cab at 901-577-7777 to make your way to the Liberty Bowl. While most lodging options are 10-20 minutes from the Stadium on a regular day, expect traffic delays – there are a ton of you going to the Liberty Bowl!

The Liberty Bowl Beale Street Parade on December 30 at 3 p.m. is free, and will be followed by a pep rally in Handy Park on Beale at 4:30 p.m.
As for lodging, there are lots of hotels in downtown Memphis and East Memphis. Downtown hotels will be within walking distance (or a short trolley ride) from things to do and about five miles to the Stadium. Prepare for crowds and traffic – Beale Street attracts tens of thousands of people for New Year’s Eve. If you stay in East Memphis, you’ll need transportation to get to nearby things to do and will be about seven to ten miles from the Stadium.

3. Do the Tourist Things. Stop by Beale Street Landing, Tom Lee Park, Big River Crossing, and see the Mighty Lights at night. Ride Explore Bike Share bike, see the ducks at the Peabody Hotel, go to Beale Street (will be VERY lively on NYE!!!) and take a picture at an I Love Memphis mural. Check out the full list here.
4. Attractions and Tours. Check out the top-ranked Memphis Zoo, National Civil Rights Museum, a Memphis Grizzlies game, Crosstown Concourse, Shelby Farms Park, the Dixon Gallery & Gardens and the Memphis Botanic Gardens.

5. Wild Card. This one depends on your interests! Ride the elevator at the Bass Pro Pyramid, hear live music at our many venues, drink local beer and spirits, take the kids to the Children’s Museum or Pink Palace. Then, check out this guide to theater, dance, opera, and more performing arts.
