365 Things to Do in Memphis #196: Blues on the Bluff

365 Things to Do in Memphis #196: Blues on the Bluff

Bring your lawn chairs, but leave your pets at home - Assignment #196 on the 365 Things to Do in Memphis list is to check out the annual Blues on the Bluff concert, held every July.

For the past 30 years, WEVL has hosted a giant blues party at the Metal Museum. It's a very good time - the bands are always incredible, the atmosphere is something like a backyard party and the views of the sunset are unparalleled.

This year, the Kenny Brown Band, Marcella & Her Lovers, and Lightnin' Malcolm are headlining the show. There's also a silent auction, food from Central Barbecue (so bring some cash) and plenty of space to set up a lawn chair or blanket. Entry tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gates, and proceeds benefit volunteer radio in Memphis.

Memphis Made Brewing is the official beer sponsor this year, and they're bringing in a special one-of-a-kind brew to help support our local radio station.
