2018-2019 Orpheum Broadway Season

Go out and see a musical in Memphis! The historic Orpheum Theatre downtown announced their eight Broadway shows and dates for 2018-2019. If you get season tickets, you get the six brand-new-t0-Memphis shows, plus you have the option to buy the other two returning shows.

Here’s the Orpheum Broadway Series lineup with dates, including – yes – the dates for Hamilton’s Memphis shows.

LOVE NEVER DIES September 4-9, 2018
It’s the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera!

The creep returns

SCHOOL OF ROCK October 9-14, 2018
You know the movie! This show is going to be great, with kid actors playing live music.

LES MISÉRABLES November 27-December 2, 2018 (SEASON OPTION)
New production of the crowd favorite. Raise a glass to that!

WAITRESS January 15-20, 2019
Music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles, based on the movie about a badass waitress who takes control of her life and also PIE.

ON YOUR FEET!  February 12-17, 2019
This is the Emilio and Gloria Estefan story. You’re going to know all of the songs.

You know it, you love it, it’s coming back to town.

ANASTASIA June 4-9, 2019
You’ll have to excuse me, but my eleven-year-old self is doing cartwheels at the prospect of seeing my favorite animated movie come to life.

And finally…

HAMILTON July 9-28, 2019
This groundbreaking, super-hyped blockbuster musical is “the story of America then, as told by America now”. It really needs no introduction. It received the most Tony awards nominations ever, the cast recording soundtrack sold more copies than any such Broadway soundtrack in the last 50 years, and people are going to go nuts.

That’s it for Broadway musicals in downtown Memphis at the Orpheum for 2018-2019. If you’re already a season ticket holder, you can renew now. If you are thinking of buying season tickets for the first time, those go on sale on April 20, 2018. As for folks wanting single-show tickets, we’ll just have to wait.

Let’s not forget that we have two more Broadway shows in this season, Wicked (March 7 – 25) and Something Rotten! (April 10-15).

Obviously, Wicked is the greatest thing ever. I’ve heard that Something Rotten! – set in the 1590s – is absolutely hilarious, about two guys who try to compete with Shakespeare and in their attempt to become theater hotshots, actually invent something called a “musical”. So don’t sleep on that one, either.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

How far in advance will tickets be available for each performance at the Orpheum?

    • Holly Whitfield says:

If you were a 2017-2018 season ticket holder, you can renew now. If you are not currently a season ticket holder, but want to be one for the next season, those tickets go on sale on April 20. For single show tickets, the sale date varies. I think it’s a few months ahead of time, but again, it really varies. I would sign up for the Orpheum’s email list https://oss.ticketmaster.com/html/home.htmI?team=orpheum&l=EN&STAGE=1 or follow their social media pages closely.
