The St. Jude Memphis Marathon is this Saturday, December 2. I Love Memphis is sponsoring a Cheering Section again – and you’re invited!

Mark your calendars for this Saturday morning and get ready to support the St. Jude Heroes running in the 2017 Marathon. Details below.

When: This Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You do not need to stay the whole time, it’s totally come-and-go, come by for a half hour or stay the whole time.

Where: Our home base this year will on the street in front of Sunrise Memphis, the new breakfast place at 670 Jefferson Ave. This is near Mile 24 on the race course, near Victorian Village. Click here for a race map. Because Sunrise is so awesome, they’re letting us cheerers use their restrooms facilities, which is rare along the route.

What: Cheer on the THOUSANDS of runners who are coming from around the country to help cure childhood cancer, right here in Memphis. These St. Jude Heroes SERIOUSLY need your encouragement this late in the race. We’ll have coffee and snacks and water, and Sunrise will be open for breakfast if you need some breakfast tacos, chicken biscuits, or BYOB for mimosas/Bloody Marys before/after/during your cheer shift!

Who: You! You’re totally invited and you can bring your kids and your friends and your dogs on leashes. The folks from Stax will be there with great Memphis soul tunes and in costume to create a Soul Train style cheering section. Dress up if you want!

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
