I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

So I’ve only lived in Memphis since 2014 but I can honestly say that I’ve fallen in love with the city. What I want to see in 2017 is the continued progress that has gone on since I’ve moved here. There have been so many improvements to areas all over the city that have made Memphis even more desirable. And it looks like that will continue in the new year. But most importantly I want to see the hard work and pride of Memphians continue to build. While Memphis took a step in the positive cosmetically, the rise in violence, especially among the 15-22yr old group, this year has caused major concern. We have to do something to get these young people to value life again and respect their city. If we can collectively do that as a city then 2017 will be one heck of a year.

  7. Katie says:

I am most looking forward to a more unified city of Memphis in 2017! Also, I am really excited about Crosstown Concourse opening, enjoying the new renovations at Shelby Farms, eating at Cook Out, and growing an ever bigger love for Memphis in 2017!

  8. Mary Reddin says:

Looking forward to spending more time in the midtown area to explore the dining experience as they have so many good choices and so few I have actually been to. Recently just walked to area with a family member and I was amazed at all of the places I had never noticed before. We have so much to offer here that we don’t take the time to get out and discover even when we have lived here for all of our life!
