9 Things To Eat In Memphis Right Now
9 Things To Eat In Memphis Right Now
After that debacle of a restaurant post this morning, I decided I needed to give y'all something else tasty to read about today. Here are nine delicious things you should try at Memphis restaurants right now.
1. Short ribs from DWJ Korean BBQ
This is the new Korean BBQ place in Cooper Young by Goner Records. While the atmosphere leaves something to be desired, the food was delicious. You can have them cook your food for you, or you can cook your own at your table. The short ribs came with rice, and little tiny sides were 50 cents each.
2. The Overton salad from Tamp & Tap
The Overton has arugula, asparagus, candied bacon, pepper, and parmesan with a ranch dressing. It's a pretty big portion, too.
3. Guacamole from Las Delicias
This is an oldie, but a goodie. With all the hullabaloo about tableside guac, it can be easy to forget about this super fresh, authentic guacamole. It's still my favorite.
4. Cheeseburger from Jerry's Sno Cones
You know about the sno cones, and maybe the fried pickles, but I tend to think that Jerry's has a darn good burger.
5. Spinach madeline at The Second Line
If you haven't chosen the spinach madeline as a side to your poboy at The Second Line, let me strongly encourage you to do so. It removes any and all health value that spinach has by dousing it in cream and cheese and butter…and I'm 100 percent OK with that.
6. Quinoa crunch bowl from Lyfe Kitchen
I've posted about this on Instagram before, but this protein-packed option is my go-to lunch downtown when I've had too much Dyer's or Second Line lately. You can get it with tofu or fish instead of chicken, if you like. That red sauce gives it a great kick, and that edamame hummus is awesome.
7. Cheeseburger from Dyer's
Just revisiting this classic. Most people go for the Double Double (double meat, double cheese) but in interest of the rest of my life, I'll compromise with a single from time to time. Pro tip: Dyer's has underrated onion rings.
8. Peach Cobbler Nachos from Chef Tam's Underground
My goodness, what genius created this reinvention of the usually savory delicacy known as "nachos"? Chef Tam (who recently won a Food Network show!) has a spot in Cooper Young that serves up plenty of tasty and creative dishes for lunch, dinner, or dessert.
9. The Italian Hoagie from Bardog Tavern
Just look at that thing. It's beautiful.
