Lip sync battles are officially “a thing” now. Coming up on April 14, you can witness a very Memphis edition of a lip sync battle at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Lip Sync Plus is an event co-hosted by the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA) and MLGW where five celebrity contestants will battle five lip sync-ers from the community. It’s going to be amazing.

Tickets to watch the competition are $30 per person or two for $50, and the event benefits Plus-1, a utility assistance program run by MIFA and MLGW. So, go ahead and get your tickets, which include food, a drink, and photos on the red carpet. Or, take a chance on winning a pair of tickets. I have instructions on how to enter a bit further down. (Giveaway ended – congrats to Ryan!)

But first, let’s meet our contestants. In one corner, we have five Memphis celebrities.

In the other corner, we have the four Memphians who garnered the most votes in Lip Sync Plus’ online video contest, perhaps soon to be Memphis celebrities themselves.

  • Latasha Peebles
  • David Page
  • Aristarchus Neely
  • Carlie Lawrence

You can watch their entry videos and read about the prizes they’re competing for here. Joe Birch and yours truly will serve as judges, and Katrina Coleman from the Memphis Comedy Fest will be the emcee.

Who will win this ferocious battle? Only one way to find out. Get your tickets here.

How To Win Tickets To The Show (Giveaway Ended)

If you want to enter to win a pair of tickets ($100 value) to Lip Sync Plus on April 14, just leave me a comment on this blog post and tell me which song you’d perform in a lip sync battle.

I’ll do a random drawing on Friday morning and announce the winner on the “5 things to do” post on April 8 at approximately 9 a.m.

As a judge, I’m secretly hoping someone does some Disney.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

If I were to Lip Sync, it would be Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’. I would go all out…curly hair, head band, loud colors and all!

  5. Lenora Smith says:

Me personally, I am a Stephanie Mills fans so I would do Home from the Wiz or Whitney Houston’s, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, they are two of my favorite performers. I am still fairly new to Memphis, and I am loving your “I Love Memphis” emails; you’re certainly going to give life to my dreary social calendar. Keep up the great work.

    Lenora

The one song I always gotta rock out to. Bon Jovi “Wanted Dead or Alive”
