This Weekend: Memphis Comedy Fest (Get Your Tickets Now!)

Did you know Memphis has a busy, growing, kick-ass comedy scene? Well, it does. And the biggest event is Memphis Comedy Fest. It's coming up this week. Here are eight things you need to know.

1. MCF is four days long, March 31 - April 3, 2016. You can see the whole schedule here.

2. There are about thirty (30!) different events, including standup showcases, themed shows, improv acts, film screenings, karaoke nights, and open mic nights over the four days. You can see the whole schedule here.

3. Most of the events are at Theatre Works (2085 Monroe Ave.), The Basement (423 N. Watkins St.), or the P&H (1532 Madison Ave.), but there are a handful of other venues included, too.

4. As far as tickets go: You can buy an MCF pass for $70, which includes access to all ticketed events except the headliner show. You can buy tickets for individual shows for just $7 - $10. Which is less than a drink at most spots in Overton Square! You can buy tickets for the headliner show for $25 here.

5. This isn't just about Memphis comics. In fact, the whole point is to invite established comedians from around the country and special guests to participate. You'll see some new faces.

6. The headliner for Memphis Comedy Fest 2016 is Phoebe Robinson. Her resume is impressive (Broad City, standup show with Jessica Williams from the Daily Show, Late Night With Seth Myers, Girl Code, Last Comic Standing). She's legit, and it's pretty rad she's coming to Memphis. Don't miss it. Trust me.

Or watch her segment on Late Night With Seth Myers below:

7. Like so many things in Memphis, Memphis Comedy Fest is a chance to see great talent, attend something organized by fun and unique people, and to do it all without spending eighty bazillion dollars. And if it you need even more reasons, you'll be supporting a truly local event with the goal of improving Memphis' comedy scene.

8. If you search for "Memphis Comedy Fest" in the calendar, you can find a ton of shows and pick which ones you're into. Like I said, there are about 30 different events, so I'm not going to re-list them all here, so check out that schedule and get your tickets today - usually several shows sell out.
