This Week In Memphis: February 29 - March 6, 2016

Here’s what’s going on in Memphis this week, plus a preview of this weekend. Don't forget to submit your upcoming events to the I Love Memphis Calendar.

Monday (Feb. 29)
Undercurrent 27 at the New Daisy: Mix and mingle with fun Memphians in the renovated New Daisy Theatre starting at 8 p.m. You’ll need to RSVP.

The Stax Museum kicks off their Soul Cinema film series at 6:30 p.m. with "Truck Turner" starring Isaac Hayes.

Outflix Film Festival hosts a night of short films at Studio on the Square. 6:30 p.m. $10.

Tuesday (March 1)
Kevin Cerrito hosts PIXAR trivia at the Rec Room at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at 7 p.m. at Tamp & Tap on Wednesday, and on Thursday at 8 p.m. at The Green Beetle. Be sure to make a reservation.

The Memphis Music Residency performs with the Bluff City Soul Collective and others at 1884 Lounge at Minglewood Hall. Doors at 7 p.m. Show at 8 p.m. Free.

Wednesday (March 2)
The Brooks Museum will show documentary film "Hockney" at 7 p.m. $5 members/$9 non-members.

The 3rd annual Blue Pump Gala supporting women in transportation careers will be at the Botanic Garden at 6 p.m. $60.

Thursday (March 3)
Paul Thorn performs at Lafayette's at 8 p.m. $20.

Blake Shelton performs at FedExForum at 7 p.m. $28-$68.

"Free Man of Color" opens at Hattiloo Theatre and runs Thursdays through Sundays until April 3.

Prom Kings perform at Newby's at 10:30 p.m.

Weekend

Friday, March 4

Ballet on Wheels and Cordova High School Orchestra will collaborate for a Youth Classical Concert at 7 p.m. at Buckman Performing & Fine Arts Center. Free.

The Mersey Beatles tribute band will perform at the Halloran Centre at 7:30 p.m. $35.

Midtown Crossing Grill will host, "Homeroom",  a comedy show with a school theme, at 7:30 p.m. $5.

All The Way (2014 Tony Award winner for Best Play) will open at Playhouse on the Square on Friday, March 4 and play through March 26.

Comedy/aerial acrobatics/music/variety show "Night Shift: 80s In The Air" is on at Theatreworks at 11:30 p.m. on Friday night. $11. 18+.

Marshall Arts (639 Marshall Ave.) hosts "Planet Nine: Displacement" on Friday at 6 p.m.

Bluff City Backsliders perform at Newby's at 10 p.m.

Saturday, March 5

Cognac, Cars, and Cigars is an all-inclusive cigar- and cognac-tasting event with luxury cars on display and live music. AT LAZ Parking Garage Rooftop. $100.

Get Turnt Up for Housing Justice is party at the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center to support their efforts in supporting fair housing in Memphis. $5 cover, Wiseacre beer, and Jell-O shots. Begins at 7 p.m.

Amurica Photo hosts another audience-driven storytelling event at 7 p.m. The theme is "Witness" and the cover is $10.

The Hi-Tone hosts the 3rd MISOMI Benefit, featuring 16 local acts performing from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. $10 donation at the door benefits National Institute for Mental Illness.

Comedian Brian Regan performs at the Orpheum Theatre at 8 p.m. Tickets are $42.50.

Jerred Price performs at the Hard Rock Cafe at 9 p.m. Free admission.

William Clark Green performs at Lafayette's Music Room at 10 p.m. $5.

Sunday, March 6

Laura Rain and the Caesars perform at Huey's Midtown on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

Dru's Place will host a Drag and Comedy Party on Sunday at 7 p.m. $5 cover.
