Get yourself in the Christmas spirit this weekend with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra’s first Pops concert of the season. The MSO will perform holiday favorites and classics this Saturday, December 12 in the Cannon Center downtown, and I’m giving away a pair of tickets. Congrats to Amanda Rast for winning the tickets!

– Memphis favorite Joyce Cobb will perform vocals with the symphony

– Father-daughter duo Scott Moore and Shannon Moore are both playing in the Symphony this Saturday; Scott plays trumpet and Shannon plays the flute. Aww!

– There will be music in the halls before the show and at intermission featuring Christmas music performed by the Memphis Youth Symphony Program, Bruce Elementary School Choir, White Station High School, the Memphis Camerata, and more

–  Santa will be making an appearance for photos, alongside a festive Christmas-themed photo-booth

–  The Memphis Symphony League will be providing free holiday treats and hot cider in the lobby at intermission

    “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire” brings memories of Christmas times at my grandparents’ house in Indiana. We always did all the “holiday” things, including roasting nuts and killing our own turkey. (Some things were more fun than others!)
