This Week: Help Launch Troop 901 at Cookies On Tap
Do you love Girl Scout cookies? Do you love local beer, including High Cotton? Do you want to support the professional development of young women in Memphis? If you answered yes (I know I did) to any of these questions, then Cookies on Tap on Thursday, June 18 is the event for you.
Girl Scouts Heart of the South, our local chapter of Girl Scouts, plans to launch a new group for young professionals. They're calling it Troop 901. Specifically, they hope to fund a scholarship endowment for higher education as well as connect experienced civic-minded professionals and young women in Memphis.
The combination of networking and support + actual money going towards women's education sounds like - in my opinion - an excellent recipe for an effective organization, and I'm looking forward to see the work they do in Memphis.
But back to the beer and cookies. These are the pairings:
- Samoa with Island Wheat
- Tag-A-Longs with Scottish Ale
- Savannah Smile with CTZar
- Thin Mint with "Baller" Brown Ale
Cookies on Tap is this Thursday from 4 p.m .to 7 p.m. at High Cotton Brewing. Tickets are $15, and you can buy them ahead of time by clicking here or at the door. All proceeds go towards Troop 901's scholarship endowment. The tasting will be go-at-your-own-pace, so if you can't make it until after 5 p.m., it's no problem.
Side note: if you're interested in more Girl Scout cookies + craft beer pairings, check out this fun post from my friends over at Memphis Craft Beer.
