Every summer, hundreds of people flock to the giant lawn in the middle of the Memphis Botanic Garden for the annual Live at the Garden concert series. The shows are a giant garden party combined with a picnic (you’re allowed to bring in your own food and booze) and a big concert.

The bands are usually crowd-pleasing favorites, and the crowd is decidedly adult. There are a handful of reserved tables in front of the stage, but the lawn (where tickets are less expensive) turns into mass picnic / dance party. Some people go all out with their dress and food spreads, others keep it super casual with lawn chairs, blankets and take-out.

Tickets are $45 plus fees and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000

Gates open 6:30pm/show starts at 8:30pm

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
