Ed. Note: I'm very excited to share with you this guest post from respected Memphis fashion and lifestyle blogger Kim Thomas. (She also took all the photos.) I like the way she features fashion ideas that a) people would actually wear, b) are affordable, and c) are available from local shops both chain and boutique. Check out her blog at KPFusion.com and look forward to more seasonal guest fashion posts from Kim on I Love Memphis.

Take it away, Kim.

The Big Flirt - I_Love_Memphis_KPFUSION_Valentines-Day-Style-Ideas_3_outtake

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, now’s the time to start getting your look together for the big night. Now, your “big night” could consist of you and your girls painting the town red and dancing until dawn instead of dinner, chocolates and a movie with your guy, but I’m here to tell you something- WHO you’re celebrating with isn’t as important as WHAT you’re wearing while you celebrate.

This fun little holiday is the perfect time to step out of your box and experiment with your every day look; because we all know that Valentine’s Day will be about love, fun, food, and cute selfies. Below are 4 outfit ideas to help you look your best.

1. Sweet but Street

Up the edge factor on a traditionally sweet shift dress with a leather jacket + suede booties. Go the minimalist route and skip jewelry altogether.

2. Cute and Sassy

There’s no better way to show off a great set of gams than in shorts paired with a cropped sweater and stilettos. If the heels are too girly for you, swap them out with flats (or even a pair of chucks if that’s more your steeze).  A statement necklace will keep all eyes on you.

3. The Big Flirt

Classically feminine, this flutter sleeve dress is perfect for any date idea. Nude platforms keep legs looking long and lean, while gold touches of jewelry give it a dose of glam.

Dress + Necklace: Langford Market Memphis | Cuff: Crazy Beautiful | Shoes: Steve Madden

4. Pretty Shiny Sparkly

A short sequined dress was made for a night out dancing-you’ll literally be glowing everywhere you go. Caged booties help ground the sparkle a bit, and you can keep all of your essentials inside an oversized clutch.

Keep beauty simple (a cat-eye with a bold lip is always fresh and flirty), and no matter what you wear, be comfortable and have FUN! xo

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
