Mark Your Calendars For Memphis Beer Week 2015
Attention beer lovers: clear your schedules and plan your trips to Memphis for April 18 - 25, 2015 for the third annual Memphis Beer Week. MBW is an annual event that celebrates American craft beer with a series of gatherings at local restaurants and taprooms.
Here's the schedule of events:
Saturday, April 18, 2015: Memphis Brewfest at AutoZone Park
This charity event is the biggest of MBW, this year with new beers, better beer selection, and brewery representatives with brand and beer knowledge. Tickets are $42 before April 11, $45 after April 11, or $75 for VIP. The event is 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Get more info here and buy tickets here. It benefits Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.
Sunday, April 19, 2015: Barrel Aged Ball at Wiseacre Brewing
The Barrel Aged Ball is new this year, featuring specialty barrel-aged U.S. beers on the draft wall, live music, a dodgeball tourney, and no cover charge - you're only charged for what you drink. The event is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wiseacre, Founders, Southern Prohibition, Abita, and SweetWater are just a few of the breweries bringing their bold barrel-aged brews to taste.
Monday, April 20, 2015: Cooking With Beer At Whole Foods
Space is limited for this beer cooking and pairing class at the cooking school at Whole Foods Poplar Avenue - so sign up here today.
Monday, April 20, 2015: Eat, Drink, and Be Socially Active at Local on the Square
This "tap attack" event will have all limited edition beers from several breweries. Brewery reps and beer bloggers will be onsite to talk with the crowd and suggest menu pairings. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs room at Local in Midtown.
Tuesday, April 21, 2015: Winery of Germantown Beer Tasting
Starting at 6 p.m., taste an array of craft brews and talk beer with brewery reps.
Wednesday, April 22, 2015: Beer Dinner at Slider Inn
Enjoy a five-course meal paired with beers hand-picked by the Memphis Beer Week team. The dinner starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $45. Go here to reserve your spot.
Thursday, April 23, 2015: Goose Island Beer Dinner at Bardog Tavern
Food from Bardog's kitchen and beer from Goose Island come together for a downtown beer dinner starting at 7 p.m. Call Bardog Tavern for details or to reserve a space.
Friday, April 24, 2015: Samplepalooza at Madison Growler Shop
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Madison Growler Shop (inside the Cash Saver) will offer samples of local, regional, and national beers, special prices on growelrs, accessories, and brews, and prizes for the first 100 people to buy a growler.
Saturday, April 25, 2015: Hopped at Memphis Made Brewing
I don't know that this is an official MBW event, but it's a fun-sounding beer event during the week, so I thought I'd throw it in here. Memphis Made Brewing in Cooper Young will be open on Saturdays starting on April 25, and to celebrate, they're hosting a spring beer party right by the big red I Love Memphis mural near Cooper and York. They'll have some limited edition brews (mostly hoppy), Mighty Souls Brass Band, Goner Records, Fresh Gulf Shrimp, Food Geek, Aldo's Pizza, and more. It's from noon to 6 p.m., is free to enter, and all ages (21 to drink, of course).
Saturday, April 25, 2015: Crafted at the Brooks Museum
MBW has partnered with the Brooks Museum for an intimate beer festival with beer samples from 30 breweries (each with at least four beers) and food samples from 8 local restaurants. The event is 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are reduced to $50 for general admission and $75 for VIP! $100 for VIP or $75 for general admission; I have a feeling this is going to sell out momentarily, so buy your tickets now here.
