Made In Memphis: Relevant Roasters Pop-Up Shop

There are two kinds of people: people who grab whatever coffee they can find on the run and gulp it like it was their life force…and people who act like they're in a coffee commercial, savoring every sip and admiring every curl of steam.

Update: On July 21, 2015 Relevant Roasters opened a coffee bar on location at their roastery at 584 Tillman. They'll be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

OK, maybe it's not that dramatic, but Jimmy Lewis and Sarla Nichols lean toward the latter. They have recently opened a local roastery so they can spread the gospel of good coffee: Relevant Roasters. The idea is that the shorter the amount of time between roasting, brewing, and drinking, the better the coffee.

Want to give it a try? Normally, Relevant Roasters is just a roastery, not a coffee shop, but you can stop by this Friday or Saturday morning for a cup for $1.50 ($1.40 if you bring your own mug/cup). There are a couple of roasts -  espresso, medium, decaf, or they can make roast you up a custom blend if you ask really nicely.

Buy Relevant Roasters ground and whole bean coffee ($12.95 a bag) at Miss Cordelia's, High Point Grocery, Tart (cafe in Cooper Young), or stop by the roasters to buy a bag there. You can also order it at several local restaurants. They'll be at Whole Foods in a few weeks.

Went by their pop-up last week and got a bag of their signature house blend - it is EXCELLENT! Prefectly smooth and balanced with great flavor. It has become our new household coffee! Way to to Jimmy and Sarla!
